FAQ
What can the model's wear?
This is a NUDE FIGURE session. For the most part, the models are completely naked. We do ask the model to undress to their comfort level (especially if it's their very first time), so on a rare occasion, a model can be slightly covered. This can occasionally include accessories, a sash, or even underwear.
Is the Free Range back brewery room private?
Technically, no. As stated in the Model Sign Up, this location is not for shy people. Customers are allowed to walk through the space to get to the bar, and on rare occasions, an employee needs to come and grab something. There are two large windows that are both covered in drapes or curtains.
We have never had any problems, and we aim to keep it that way. Chalice's team honors and respects the model's time and presence while offering a space for artists to practice their techniques and crafts. We honor this by asking artists to read and sign the Model Bill of Rights.
What is provided for the model?
The host brings a backless, long padded stool, a portable wooden stage, thick yoga mats for additional padding, and an extra curtain for the large window in the brewery room.
What should the model bring for themselves?
We recommend that models bring their own robes that they can easily slip in and out of and place on the provided stool. If you get chilly easily, please let Chalice know, and she can bring a space heater.
Whats 'proper' etiquette for the host and model?
For the model, we ask that you arrive around 10:50 a.m. This gives you plenty of time to stretch and find suitable parking. We also ask that you put your robe back on in between postures. There have never been any complaints, so worrying about lingering eyes is unnecessary. It is standard for the model to be dressed during breaks between postures.
For the host, please arrive by 10:45 a.m. Our responsibility is to manage the timer and provide the schedule to the artists and the model. It's essential to ensure the model feels comfortable and inquire about any injuries that should be noted.
What is supplied for the aritsts?
Free Range offers tables and benches for artists to sit on. Occasionally, thick yoga mats are provided for extra comfort for the benches or for people to sit on the ground. The chairs fill up fast, so we recommend to come early.
What can the artists bring?
You can bring whatever you can carry and whatever your heart desires. However, to be friendly to the enclosed environment, please refrain from aerosols. If you have a tabletop or traveling easel, we highly encourage you to bring that as well. For a list of recommended supplies from Chalice, click here.
Can the artists or models bring children? 2 legs or 4 legs?
The owners at Free Range Brewery highly encourage the space to be 'family-friendly.' Children with two or four legs are welcome. However, young and small two-legged children must respect the environment. For instance, please avoid bringing an iPad without headphones. Most artists are in the zone and wish to prevent distractions. The same goes for four-legged creatures: respect the environment. We also ask that four-legged friends be adequately leashed at all times.
Models and hosts: Please leave young or small two-legged creatures at home. That way, all you have to worry about is working. Four-legged creatures are welcome if they are well-behaved and will not cause distractions.
Can my teenager attend Figure Drawing sessions?
We love it when young people start their artistic journey. However, because these sessions are in a brewery, no one under 21 is allowed without a guardian present.
Can the artsits bring food or drink?
Artists are prefered to order drinks from Free Range, which provides us with free space to hold the figure sessions. Free Range offers a variety of beer, wine, kombucha, liquor, and non-alcoholic beverages. We highly recommend their rotating shrub soda or the nitro cold brew.
You can bring food, but the owners now have a food truck provided at the end of every session. Rhino Market is also right next door.
Whats the schedule like?
We host a series of short psotures. That includeds 1 min gestures, 1 ten min poster, and 3 different 20 min posutres.
11:00 - 10x 1 min Gesture
11:15 - 5 min break

What about 'that time of the month' for models?
We are human. If the model chooses to perform during Aunt Flow's visit, they are welcome to be as covered and protected as needed.
We have worked with models who plan around their cycle, cancel the day off because they don't feel like it, wear undies during postures, or rock the string. We invite and encourage the models to be themselves.
Do you host on holidays?
We avoid hosting during major holidays. That includes Christmas, New years, and Independance Day.
Do you wear masks?
We mask up as a group when the CDC mandates it. We won't mask the model since that is 50% of the face. Artists are more than welcome to come with a mask if they need to, and we do ask that if you feel under the weather, please stay home.
